making space

floatingI have this photo set as my computer background so I can see it every day. It represents the way I want to feel in my life and in my work – relaxed, joyful, supported and free.

It also represents the space that I need to give myself in order to feel this way and be fully present in my work. When I’m stressed, tired and struggling to push through a block, I just end up feeling more stuck – which leads to frustration and anxious feelings of not-good-enough.

But when I can step away for a bit – whether it’s for a few minutes, hours or even days – I break through those blocks. Every. single. time. My brain needs space too – space to breathe, process, and look at new possibilities I might not have seen yet.

Only then can I do my best work.

A good example of this is when Jen Hofmann and I were creating our new coaching program, we were struggling to come up with a name for it. Somehow “Jen & Lisa’s awesome program” just didn’t seem right (even though it IS pretty awesome).

I was really pushing myself to come up with something clever, and it just wasn’t happening. So I took a step back. I jotted down all the words I could think of that represented the benefits of this program. In a moment of clarity, I wrote down the first letter of each word on sticky notes and shuffled them around, rearranging them over and over into something that might make sense (Scrabble, anyone?).

Then a word jumped out at me:

SPACE

Support, Productivity, Accountability, Community, and Encouragement.

Those are the key things that this program offers. It made perfect sense.

And I realized that this word was more than just an acronym – it represents a core need we all have. All the pieces of this program collectively help create space for YOU in your business.

When you’re supported, have a community to encourage you and hold you accountable, you’re going to be more productive, which naturally creates a sense of spaciousness for you.

When you give yourself that space, you’re treating yourself with the respect and love you deserve, so you can truly do your best work and be joyful while doing it. The results are astounding.

If you’d like to create a little more space for yourself in your life and business, I invite you to join us in the S.P.A.C.E. program. Click here for all the details.

You deserve it, and I promise it will be worth the trip.
