I’ve been in business for a long time.
During that time, I’ve had plenty of ups and downs, ridden the waves of clarity and trudged through months of feeling stuck. The ups are amazing, and the lows are really freaking low.
It sucks to be stuck. It’s like the whole world is moving in slow motion, and no matter how bad you think you want it, you can’t get anything going.
When you find yourself in that place, what do you think is holding you back?
It’s not lack of knowledge, drive, money, or time.
The thing that holds you back is fear — fear of stepping out of your comfort zone
Everyone has have a comfort zone – a bubble of protection. It’s pretty awesome. It’s warm and cozy, full of blankets and pillows. And chocolate. It’s a place of extreme safety.
But the thing is, that bubble lies to you. It whispers “Stay with me and nothing will hurt you”. The bubble holds you back, despite its good intentions. It’s like the helicopter parent who just can’t let go.
If you want to grow, you’ve got to take chances.
Starting a new business
Putting out a new offering
Starting a fitness challenge
Taking a new job
Quitting an old job
Moving to a new place
Learning something new that scares you
Sometimes (especially when you work from home), your comfort zone is literally your house, and you seriously need to get out of those pajamas and go spend time with real humans, face-to-face.
Peek outside your comfort zone, even just a little bit.
Can you dip your toe outside and see what it’s like? I bet it’s not as bad as you think it will be. What can you do to commit to yourself this week and try something new? What’s that thing you’ve been resisting that is calling your name?
Be brave. I believe in you.
